Antenatal Infection & Immunity Screening
Advanced Diagnostic Protocol
Clinical Significance
Comprehensive infection and immunity screening is essential before and during pregnancy. This 14-parameter panel tests for infections that can harm your baby (Rubella, Toxoplasma, CMV, Syphilis, HIV, Hepatitis B/C), checks blood group and antibodies, and assesses baseline health. Identifying immunity gaps and infections allows vaccination and treatment before conception or early in pregnancy.

Clinical Inquiries
Q. Why is Rubella immunity important before pregnancy?
Rubella (German measles) during pregnancy can cause serious birth defects including deafness, heart problems, and brain damage. If you're not immune, MMR vaccination before conception provides protection. You must wait 1 month after vaccination before trying to conceive.
Q. What is the Atypical Antibody Screen?
This test checks for blood antibodies that could attack your baby's red blood cells (haemolytic disease). If detected, your pregnancy can be monitored closely to prevent complications. It's particularly important if you're Rhesus negative.
Q. What if an infection is detected?
Some infections (Syphilis, HIV, Hepatitis B/C) can be treated or managed to prevent transmission to your baby. Early detection is crucial—treatment during pregnancy dramatically reduces transmission risk. Your report includes all results for discussion with your GP or obstetrician.
