Testicular Cancer Blood Screening
Advanced Diagnostic Protocol
Clinical Significance
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-49. This blood screening measures three key tumour markers—Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP), Beta-HCG, and Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH)—used to detect testicular cancer, monitor treatment response, and detect recurrence. Early detection leads to cure rates exceeding 95%.

Clinical Inquiries
Q. What do AFP, Beta-HCG, and LDH indicate?
Alpha-Fetoprotein and Beta-HCG are proteins produced by certain testicular tumours. LDH (Lactate Dehydrogenase) is an enzyme that can indicate tissue damage or cancer spread. Together, these markers help detect and classify testicular cancers.
Q. Who should have testicular cancer screening?
We recommend this screening for men aged 15-49 (peak incidence), those with family history of testicular cancer, men with undescended testicle history, or anyone who has noticed testicular changes, lumps, or swelling.
Q. Can these markers be elevated without cancer?
Yes, Beta-HCG can be slightly elevated in marijuana users, and LDH rises with intense exercise or other conditions. Elevated results require clinical correlation and may warrant ultrasound investigation.
Clinical Protocol
No fasting required. No specific preparation needed. This blood test complements physical self-examination.
