Prostate Cancer Risk & Health Screening
Advanced Diagnostic Protocol
Clinical Significance
Early detection of prostate cancer dramatically improves treatment outcomes. This focused screening measures both Total PSA and Free PSA—the two key biomarkers for assessing prostate health. By measuring the ratio of free to total PSA, we can better differentiate between benign prostate conditions and potential malignancy, reducing unnecessary anxiety and further investigations.

Q. What is PSA and what do Total PSA and Free PSA mean?
PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) is a protein produced by prostate cells. Total PSA measures all PSA in your blood, while Free PSA measures the portion not bound to proteins. A low Free PSA ratio may indicate higher cancer risk, while a higher ratio suggests benign conditions.
Q. Who should have this screening?
We recommend PSA screening for men over 50, or from age 45 if you have a family history of prostate cancer or are of African-Caribbean descent. Early baseline measurements help track changes over time.
Q. What happens if my PSA is elevated?
Elevated PSA doesn't always mean cancer—it can indicate benign enlargement or infection. Your comprehensive written report will explain your results, which you can share with your GP who can arrange further investigations if needed.
Clinical Protocol
No fasting required. Avoid ejaculation for 48 hours prior to testing as this can temporarily elevate PSA levels. Avoid strenuous cycling for 24 hours before your appointment.
