Clinical Significance

Women over 60 face a changing health landscape: post-menopausal shifts in cardiovascular risk, bone density and cancer incidence all warrant closer attention. Our Advanced Cancer-Aware Health Screening for Women 60+ addresses this directly — a comprehensive panel covering full blood count, kidney, liver, thyroid, diabetes and cholesterol, strengthened with inflammation markers (CRP and high-sensitivity CRP), Vitamin D and age-relevant cancer and cardiac markers, interpreted in a detailed written nurse report.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does this differ from the Platinum MOT for Women?

This package is calibrated for the post-menopausal years. It keeps the comprehensive metabolic foundation and adds CRP and high-sensitivity CRP — inflammation markers that become more informative with age — alongside cancer and cardiac markers relevant to women over 60, such as CA-125.

Q. Why does heart risk change after menopause?

Oestrogen has a protective effect on blood vessels and cholesterol balance. After menopause, LDL cholesterol typically rises and cardiovascular risk accelerates — heart disease is a leading cause of death in women, not just men. Lipid, HbA1c and hs-CRP results together give a meaningful picture of that risk.

Q. Does this screen for all women's cancers?

No blood test panel can screen for all cancers, and we are always straightforward about this. The panel includes recognised markers such as CA-125 alongside broad organ testing that can reveal indirect signs deserving assessment. Please continue to attend NHS breast, bowel and cervical screening — this service complements those programmes.

Q. Will HRT affect my results?

HRT can influence some markers, which is why we ask about it before testing. Tell our nurse what you take and your report will be interpreted accordingly.

Q. What about bone health?

The panel includes calcium, phosphate, alkaline phosphatase and Vitamin D — useful bone-relevant markers. Women concerned about osteoporosis can add our dedicated Osteoporosis Risk Screening, which includes the bone-turnover marker Crosslaps.

Preparation

Clinical Protocol

A 12-hour fast is required for accurate glucose and lipid results — only water during the fasting period. Please bring a list of current medications, including HRT, as this can influence interpretation of some markers.

12-Hour Fasting Required

If you require a fasting lipid profile and glucose test, please fast for 12 hours before your appointment; only water is permitted during the fasting period.

The post-menopausal decade — what changes and why it matters

After menopause, the fall in oestrogen reshapes several health risks at once: cholesterol profiles typically worsen, blood pressure tends to rise, bone turnover accelerates, and the incidence of several cancers increases with age. None of this is cause for alarm — it is cause for information. An annual structured panel turns vague concern into specific, trackable numbers you can act on with your GP.

Honest words about CA-125 in screening

CA-125 is an established ovarian marker, but as a standalone screening tool it has limitations: benign conditions can raise it and some cancers do not. We include it as one signal within a much broader picture, and every report explains your result in context. Women wanting deeper ovarian assessment can choose our dedicated Ovarian Cancer Risk Screening, which pairs CA-125 with HE4 and the ROMA algorithm.

Comfortable, unhurried, female-led care

Your 30-minute appointment includes a health questionnaire, blood pressure, BMI and vital measurements, and a gentle blood draw by our experienced registered nurse. Results arrive within about two working days with a written report in plain English — and clear signposting to your GP or NHS screening programmes wherever follow-up makes sense.

Important: This is a screening (risk assessment) blood test, not a diagnostic test. No blood test can confirm or rule out cancer on its own. Results outside the reference range do not mean you have cancer, and normal results do not guarantee its absence. If you have symptoms, or your results are unexpected, we will advise you to discuss them with your GP, who can arrange further investigation where appropriate.

"Our Advanced Cancer-Aware Health Screening – Women 60+ provides the comprehensive insight you need to take control of your health. Every biomarker is carefully analysed and results are reviewed by our clinical team."
