Full hormonal panel to assess endocrine function and identify imbalances affecting wellbeing.

Understanding Hormonal Imbalance

Hormones are the body's chemical messaging system, and when the messages misfire the effects surface everywhere at once: energy, weight, mood, skin, sleep, temperature, libido and cycles. "Hormonal imbalance" is not a diagnosis in itself — it is a signpost towards specific, testable conditions: thyroid dysfunction, PCOS, perimenopause, low testosterone, prolactin excess and adrenal issues among them.

The frustration for many people is the vagueness: symptoms are real but non-specific, and single hormone tests done in isolation frequently come back "normal" while the underlying pattern goes unmeasured. Endocrinology is a systems science — the ratio of LH to FSH, testosterone in the context of SHBG, TSH read against Free T4 — and it is the relationships between markers that carry diagnostic weight.

A structured panel measured in one sample, interpreted together, resolves that frustration efficiently. It either identifies the axis that is out of balance — thyroid, reproductive, pituitary — with a clear next step, or it excludes the hormonal explanation confidently, which is equally valuable in redirecting the search toward nutritional, metabolic or lifestyle causes.

Diagnostic Path

Identifying clinical markers associated with hormonal imbalance requires a high-resolution laboratory profile. Below are the recommended diagnostic assessments specifically calibrated for this concern.

For women, our Female Hormonal Health Screening measures the complete reproductive axis (Oestradiol, FSH, LH, Prolactin, Testosterone, SHBG, FAI); for men, the Male Hormonal Health Screening covers the equivalent panel. Because thyroid disease is the great imitator of hormonal symptoms, our Advanced Full Body MOT — with thyroid function, vitamins, iron and metabolic markers — is the ideal companion or starting point where symptoms are broad.

When to See Your GP Urgently

Screening is for people without acute symptoms. If any of the following apply, please seek medical care first:

  • A new neck lump or swelling — see your GP
  • Milky nipple discharge (either sex, not breastfeeding) — see your GP
  • Rapid unexplained weight change with palpitations — see your GP promptly
  • Absent periods 3+ months, or post-menopausal bleeding — see your GP

Frequently Asked Questions

Which hormones should I test first?

Symptom-led is best: cycle changes, skin and hair symptoms point to the reproductive panel; fatigue, weight and temperature changes point first to thyroid within a broad metabolic panel. If in doubt, book a Decide in Clinic appointment and our nurse will guide you — or start broad with the Advanced MOT.

Why did my previous single hormone test miss the problem?

Because patterns diagnose where single values cannot. A "normal" testosterone means little without SHBG; TSH alone can miss early thyroid disease; FSH varies across the cycle. Panels measured together in one sample avoid these blind spots.

Can stress genuinely disrupt hormones?

Yes — chronic stress raises cortisol, which suppresses reproductive and thyroid axes, disturbs sleep, and drives weight change. If your panel is normal, stress physiology becomes a leading suspect, and your report will say so honestly rather than leaving a vacuum.

How fast do results arrive?

Hormone panels typically return the next working day, with a written report from our registered nurse interpreting the pattern — not just listing numbers — and setting out any GP follow-up worth having.
